While listening to the (mercifully brief) speeches during Friday’s dedication ceremony at Bicentennial Park, I began pondering the identity of the most powerful non-elected person in the city of New Albany.
Possible claimants would include former mayor England and/or his wife; chief of police Sherri Knight; and city attorneys Stan Robison and Shane Gibson. Chairpersons of the sewer board and the Board of Public Works would have to be considered. I’m sure there are others.
But my vote goes to Irving Joshua, president of the Redevelopment Commission.
